I have a background of a decade as an LMT, with bodywork certifications in deep tissue, myofascial release, shiatsu, Ashiatsu (I had bars in the ceiling that I held onto while I WALKED on my clients), Thai, SweThai, sports massage, and other similar forms of DEEP bodywork. That being said, if you are looking to release trigger points, and ease stiffness, using the Pvolve roller is like using a log or a concrete parking pole…it’s simply too aggressive.
As a comprehensive Pilates instructor, the only kind of foam roller I both use and recommend is one that is rated as either soft or medium density. Look on everyone’s favorite online store with Prime shipping and get a soft roller by OPTP or Healthy You. If you’re 5’2” or shorter, get a 4” roller; your vertebrae are smaller.
Fascia release works if done with the appropriate roller; skip the high density rollers.
